Warning. This article contains some spoilers about the seventh season of the television series “Doctor Who” that will air from the second half of 2012.
Jenna-Louise Coleman is the new companion of the Doctor in the British television series “Doctor Who”. The official announcement by the BBC, also on Twitter, ends all the rumors.
Born on April 27, 1986 in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, Jenna-Louise Coleman is best known for participating in the British soap opera “Ememrdale”, for which she received the nominations at the British Soap Awards for the categories “Best Actress” but also “Sexiest Female”. She’s also known for her participation in the drama series “Waterloo Road”. In various nations, a new mini-series which sees her in the cast, “Titanic”, is about to start airing.
In 2011, Jenna-Louise Coleman also made her grand debut at the cinema in the movie “Captain America: The First Avenger”.
Jenna-Louise Coleman will replace Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, who played Amy and Rory from the fifth season of “Doctor Who”. The current two companions of the Doctor should leave during the seventh season and the debut of the new companion is scheduled for the Christmas special episode.
Let’s remember that the seventh season will air in UK according to a new format: in fact, the first 6 episodes will air in the last months of 2012 while the other 8 will air in early 2013. In practice, the Christmas special will air almost halfway through the season.
“Doctor Who” executive producer Stephen Moffat stated that he chose Jenna-Louise Coleman because he saw her with Matt Smith, who plays the Eleventh Doctor, and he and his colleagues realized that she was the right person to play his new companion.
At the moment there are no information about the companion played by Jenna-Louise Coleman. We look forward to further news, but particularly we look forward to seeing her in action in “Doctor Who”, also because next year there will be the 50th anniversary of the saga, an appointment which is obviously a really big deal.
