Tuesday, near Malargüe, a city in Argentina about 1,550 meters above sea level, the new ESA’s Deep Space Antenna 3 (DSA 3) station was officially opened, a parabolic antenna of 35 meters in diameter capable to transmit and receive in the X-band and receive in the Ka band. The structure that supports the moving antenna is 40 meters high and weighs 610 tons.

A little more than a year ago a collaboration between Google and the Israel Museum allowed putting on line five Dead Sea Scrolls. Now the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) has launched the Leon Levy Dead Sea Scrolls Digital Library, a new site that is home to about 5,000 images of fragments of those scrolls for a total of more than 900 manuscripts in a quality never seen before.

Yesterday, NASA’s GRAIL (Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory) twin spacecraft Ebb and Flow ended their mission crashing on the Moon. The site of Ebb and Flow impact was named Sally K. Ride Impact Site in honor of the first American woman to travel in space, who unfortunately passed away last July.
