Serbia was forced to play the final without the disqualified Troicki and without the injured Tipsarevic. Lajovic couldn’t be the savior of his country and after Djokovic proved he’s really a great player winning his two singles matches Serbia expected the decisive point from the doubles match, which instead lost, mainly due to Zimonjic. It’s clear that next year the Serbs will want to try again to win the Davis Cup.
After the great victory of last year, the Czech Republic made another great accomplishment confirming the title winning the Davis Cup final abroad. Berdych and Stepanek lost to Djokovic but won the doubles match, winning the decisive point for the victory. Already last year Stepanek looked too old to go on, now that he’s about to turn 35 it seems even more so but he used his enormous experience to contribute to the Czech victory. At this point it’s hard to tell what he can do next year but in the meantime he and his teammates will enjoy their new Davis Cup victory.
