The communication satellite GSAT-14 was just launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota island using the GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) Mk.II D5 rocket. All the stages of the rocket performed as predicted and after less than 20 minutes the satellite successfully separated from the last stage.

A collaboration between ESA and the Simon Fraser University in Canada has led to the construction of a small robot that can walk on vertical surfaces or ceilings holding onto them like a gecko lizard. This prototype with six legs, called Abigaille, has the aim to develop robots capable of performing maintenance operations even in space.

Certain statements by Robert Scoble, one of the Explorers, meaning one of the participants in Google’s limited program which gave the opportunity to buy the first version of the Google Glass, made people talk again of this product. According to Scoble, at least for this year they will be a success.

The novel “The Android’s Dream” by John Scalzi was published for the first time in 2006.

The relationship between humans and the Nidu undergo a sharp deterioration when a human diplomat causes the death of a Nidu colleague. The aliens are militarily much more powerful than humans and, despite the existence of interstellar treaties involving many species, the situation could escalate into an armed conflict.

A hope for humanity lays in a very important ceremony that will soon mark the rise to power of a new Nidu leader. Providing a sheep for the ceremony would be seen as a strong sign of friendship but it’s an animal of a very special breed called Android’s Dream. A Nidu faction hostile to the new leader has succeeded in exterminating the sheep of that breed and Harry Creek, a really special employee of the State Department, must protect an a unique “speciman” that still contains the DNA of that breed of sheep.

Thursday January 2, 2014 the Basketball Euroleague 2013/2014 Top 16 is starting. The Forumula is that experimented in the last season, with two groups consisting of 8 teams each. This structure with 4 teams per group that will go to the quarter-finals has changed this second phase of the Euroleague very much.
