Mira Furlan was born on September 7, 1955 in Zagreb, in the then Yugoslavia, now Croatia. During her career she worked in stage, television and cinema productions. In the ’70 and ’80 she worked in Yugoslavia but after the start of the civil war she moved to the USA with her husband, the director Goran Gajic. There she was cast for the roles she’s best known for: ambassador Delenn in the TV show “Babylon 5” and Danielle Rousseau in the TV show “Lost”. During the last decade she resumed working in her native Croatia.

Edgar Rice Burroughs

Edgar Rice Burroughs was born on September 1, 1875 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. During his career as a writer he published series that are still reprinted after a century creating iconic characters such as Tarzan but also John Carter of Mars. Edgar Rice Burroughs died on March 19, 1950 following a heart attack.

Doctor Who - The Five Doctors Special Edition

“The Five Doctors” is a special adventure between the 20th and the 21st season of “Doctor Who” classic series, which aired on November 25, 1983, featuring the First Doctor, the Second Doctor, the Third Doctor, the Fourth Doctor, the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith, Susan and Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. It follows “The King’s Demons”, it was written by Terrance Dicks and directed by Peter Moffatt.

Amanda Tapping was born on August 28, 1965 in Rochford, Essex, England. When she was three years old her family moved to Ontario, Canada. She’s famous especially for playing Samantha Carter in the Stargate franchise and Helen Magnus in the TV show “Sanctuary”, of which she was also an executive producer. In recent years she’s mostly working as a director.

Alice Hastings Bradley, this was her birth name, was born on August 24, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. In the second half of the ’60s, she started writing science fiction by using the pseudonym James Tiptree Jr. to protect her academic reputation but also because a male name seemed a good way to blend in a male dominated field. She’s known especially for her short fiction, having written only two novels. She died tragically on May 19, 1987 committing suicide after killing her husband, who was very ill.
