Charles Sheffield was born on June 25, 1935 in Kingston Upon Hull, Yorkshire, England. After graduating in mathematics and physics, he and his wife moved to the USA. After his wife’s death, he started a career as a science fiction writer publishing many novels and short fiction with great success. Charles Sheffield died on November 2, 2002 due to a brain tumor.
