As a teenager and while studying at Bowling Green State University, Robert Patrick was mainly interested in practicing various sports but at a certain point he got interested in acting and left the university to become an actor. In the second half of the 1980s he had several more or less important roles in various television and cinema productions but he didn’t earn enough money and had to take other kinds of job, for example as a bartender.

Robert Patrick’s career changed completely when the director James Cameron chose him to play the T-1000 shapeshifter Terminator in the movie “Terminator 2” (1991). The movie also marked his life because during filming he married his girlfriend Barbara, with whom he had two sons.

After that movie, Robert Patrick started finding several roles in movies such as “Fire in the Sky” (1993), and thanks to the martial arts training he had to play the T-1000 was the protagonist of the two movies of that genre “Double Dragon” and “Hong Kong ’97” (both 1994).

Robert Patrick’s career made considerable progress also with television productions. After lending his voice to a character in the animated show “The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest” between 1996 and 1997 and being guest star in various TV shows, he joined the cast of “The X-Files” playing agent John Doggett in the show’s last two seasons between 2000 and 2002.

In the following years, Robert Patrick appeared in several movies and TV shows, in particular as a regular character in the TV shows “The Unit” between 2006 and 2009, “Last Resort” in 2012-2013 and in the first season of “From Dusk till Dawn: The Series” in 2014, as a recurring character in “True Blood” between 2012 and 2014, as a narrator in the reality “Appalachian Outlaws” in 2014-2015 and as a regular character in the TV show “Scorpion” between 2014 and 2018.

The many roles played over the years, often as a military man or a law enforcement officer, allowed Robert Patrick to go beyond the fame he obtained as the T-1000. His name is linked to various movies coming out in 2019, a confirmation of the fact that now has a solid reputation.
