10 years ago the NetMassimo blog made its debut. Many things have changed, and probably many more will change in the future. After the first period of experiments, the blog started having a more defined structure in terms of themes covered, but it was never static, so it could still transform in the future in ways that I can’t even predict now.
NetMassimo blog was born with certain ideas, but I never set limits for myself, so it was developed over time in ways that I hadn’t foreseen. At one point, the articles about astronomy and space missions became so important that they deserved having a second blog opened for them, Tachyon Beam, in 2015. When I started blogging, I never thought I’d end up running two blogs.
Thinking back about these ten years of blogging inevitably makes me think about how much the virtual world in which I share my articles has changed. Today, Facebook is much more pervasive, other social media have been born, died, or have transformed. Certain themes are more successful on certain social media, so changes in the social world affect the traffic I receive. I’m not a statistics freak, but if the articles about a certain theme are particularly successful, I tend to write more of them, as long as I really care.
It’s really hard to understand how the Internet will change in the future, so I don’t know how my blogs will change. I try not to schedule my tasks too much because on the Internet things can change quickly and mess up plans. The future of both of my blogs also depends on my work commitments and how they will develop. For me, blogs are part of my job even though I tried not to make adverts too invasive.
I’m not a huge fan of celebrations, but 10 years is a long time, especially on the Internet. Consequently, I decided to write this article trying not to make it too long. Being a blogger put me in touch with many fellow bloggers, including interesting people, and introduced me to other blogs that cover interesting themes. In short, being a blogger enriched me in an indirect way as well. These 10 years have been interesting, I hope the next 10 are even more interesting!
