The question wasn’t whether Hewlett-Packard would fire CEO Léo Apotheker anymore but when it would officially announce it. Yesterday, in the afternoon, a press release was published in which the company also confirmed his replacement with Meg Whitman, who between 1998 and 2008 has been eBay CEO.

This news was often reported with sensationalism, sometimes already taking for granted that Einstein’s theory of relativity can be discarded, reporting various inaccuracies. However, it’s extraordinary that a beam of neutrinos sent from the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron to the National Laboratories of Gran Sasso in Italy has traveled faster than light. In travelling the 730 km between the two laboratories neutrinos took 60 nanoseconds less than light.

Social network Google Plus lifted all restrictions to registration.
Recently Google has made its social network’s APIs available to developers so in the future many applications might be available. The latest innovations include searches within Google+ and hangout, the videochat.

The novel “The Jennifer Morgue” by Charles Stross was published for the first time in 2006. It’s the sequel of the stories included in “The Atrocity Archives”. A billionaire who made his fortune selling software complete with magical extensions wants to get his hands on a weapon built by an ancient civilization living in the deep seas and the Laundry assigns Bob Howard to the mission of stopping him. To work with him there’s an agent only apparently human from the American equivalent of the Laundry and Bob isn’t sure that she has the same goals as him.
