The largest solar thermal power plant in the world has been activated in California
Near Ivanpah, in the Mojave Desert, California, the largest solar thermal power plant in the world has been activated. It can generate at least a power of 392 MW of electricity thanks to its 173,500 mirrors that focus sunlight on three towers (photo © Sbharris). This project has cost $2.2 billion and received a loan of $1.6 billion from the U.S. Department of Energy.
