The Clockwise Man by Justin Richards

The novel “The Clockwise Man” by Justin Richards was published for the first time in 2005.

The Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler arrive in London in 1924, to visit the British Empire Exhibition. They just got out of the Tardis when they see a man in trouble due to an aggression and rush to help him. The man works for Sir George Harding and the three of them go to his residence, where the Doctor and Rose meet various people, including Anna, the wife of Sir George, and her son, Freddie.

Soon, the Doctor and Rose discover that Sir George’s friends are involved in a plan that aims to restore the monarchy in Russia. This strange conspiracy involves a woman who always wears a mask and Repple, who claims he’s the legitimate ruler of Dastaria, deposed just like the Tsar, but there are too many strange things about them.

R.I.P. William Reid Pogue

On Monday March 3, 2014 the American astronaut William Reid Pogue passed away. He was a veteran of the Skylab space laboratory who became an author, a speaker and an educator after his career at NASA. As a pilot of the Skylab 4 mission, he departed on November 16, 1973 and returned to Earth on February 8, 1974. At the time, it was the longest manned space mission ever.
After retiring from the Air Air and NASA in 1975, William Reid Pogue remained in the field working as an aerospace consultant and as speaker and educator. He produced video on space flight and in 1991 published the book “How Do You Go to the Bathroom in Space?”, in which answered 270 questions he received during his speeches in schools. In 1992 he also published a science fiction novel, “The Trikon Deception”, with writer Ben Bova.

In the course of his work as a speaker, William Reid Pogue was asked other questions, to which he replied in a new book, “Space Trivia”, published in 2003. In 2011 he published his autobiography, “But for the Grace of God: An Autobiography of an Aviator and Astronaut”.

A group of scientists led by Professor Jean-Michel Claverie and Dr. Chantal Abergel of the French University of Aix-Marseille (Aix-Marseille Université) has discovered a previously unknown virus. Called Pithovirus sibericum, it’s very special because it’s gigantic by the standards of the viruses and was revived after being hibernated in the Siberian permafrost for more than 30,000 years.

Nova Swing by M. John Harrison

The novel “Nova Swing” by M. John Harrison was published for the first time in 2006. It won the Arthur C. Clarke and Philip K. Dick awards. It’s the second novel in the Kefahuchi Tract series.
