News arrived of the death of actor Christopher Lee. According to sources close to his family, he passed away on the morning of last Sunday at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. The actor was hospitalized there more than three weeks ago due to respiratory and cardiac problems.

Born on May 27, 1922 in London, England, Christopher Frank Carandini Lee (photo ©Siebbi) had a very long career as an actor. Just over three years ago, I wrote an article to celebrate his 90th birthday, but it was only a brief tribute. His career lasted almost until the end of his life, which means that it’s been so long that you could write a book to talk about it thoroughly.

For years a symbol of the films produced by Hammer Horror, over time Christopher Lee became famous also for many other roles in films of various genres. He also found the time to carry on a decent musical career during which he released a few albums.

Despite his considerable reputation, the news of his death came only today. This is due to his wife’s choice, the former model and actress Birgit Kroencke Danish, with whom Christopher Lee was married since 1961. Mrs. Lee wanted to inform the family members and only then publicly announce the sad news.

Certainly in the next few days many great Christopher Lee’s performances will be remembered once again on all media. All commemorations will be absolutely deserved for an actor who has been loved by generations.
