The Miami Heat have their revenge on the San Antonio Spurs

Last night the Miami Heat have avenged the hard defeat they suffered to the San Antonio Spurs on March 4 – not months ago – defeating them 110-80, winning with the same 30 points gap they suffered in San Antonio.

Yesterday’s game was certainly very different from the one in San Antonio where the Spurs had quickly taken a large lead, the Heat had tried to recover in the second half but San Antonio had taken control for good.

Yesterday the San Antonio Spurs had a good start taking a 12-7 lead but the Heat have clearly learned their lesson and didn’t allow their opponents to punish them with easy 3-point shots. At the end of the first quarter the Heat took a 22-19 lead.

While not dominating Miami has managed to stay ahead. In the San Antonio game Chris Bosh didn’t play well, yesterday he scored 30 points with a very good 10/16 shooting and a perfect 10/10 at the free throws. The Heat defense was essential with an intensity not even comparable to the one seen – or rather not seen – in the previous game.

The first half ended with Miami ahead 49-39 and in the third quarter things haven’t changed despite Tony Parker who tried anything. The Heat increased their lead a little finishing the third quarter 77-63 and it was clear that they wanted to avenge the March 4 defeat because they kept on being aggressive both offensively and defensively. The fourth quarter was a triumph for Miami, which ended the game 110-80.

The puzzling Miami Heat season goes on: they can have great wins – a few days ago they also defeated the Los Angeles Lakers – but they also lost several games in a row. It’s hard to see if now the Heat have finally found the right team chemistry: certainly good news for them is that Chris Bosh – who honestly on several occasions seemed the weakest link – in the last games played really well.

If you aren’t confused enough by the results you can go see the result of Boston Celtics – New Jersey Nets: the Eastern Conference champions have lost 88-79 to a team that is finding more and more a new identity after Deron Williams’ arrival. The Orlando Magic instead have lost in Los Angeles to the Lakers 97-84 not taking advantage of Kobe Bryant’s imperfect physical conditions as he twisted an ankle in the game versus the Dallas Mavericks.

There’s less than a month before the playoffs start and more than ever the favorite teams are having ups and downs. Obviously everyone wants to get in their best shape in the playoffs but the regular season ranking is important in order to play at home any decisive game of a series. In short we still have almost a month to have fun with predictions and speculations!
