In recent years we’ve been seeing an extraordinary proliferation of very small computers that have low costs but really interesting potential. A project that is raising funds via the crowdfunding method on the IndieGoGo website is VoCore, which has the purpose of producing large quantities of a coin-sized computer, less than one square inch (25 mm x 25 mm).

The rumors of the past few days have been confirmed with the official announcement that Satya Nadella is the new Microsoft CEO. His predecessor Steve Ballmer remains on the company’s board of directors. Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder, is leaving his role of President of the board of directors to John Thompson to take on the special role of technology adviser.

Google has announced the creation of the Open Automotive Alliance (OAA), a coalition that aims to bring you the Android platform in cars. This alliance includes the car manufacturers Audi, GM, Honda and Hyundai but also the processors manufacturer NVIDIA. The OAA intends to bring together the know-how of the various companies that form it to create a common platform to drive innovation to make technology in the car more secure and intuitive for everyone.

The Kano project is having a great success raising funds for the project on Kickstarter. It’s a kit that allows you to build a computer based on the famous Raspberry Pi thanks to a series of components and two manuals. Started on November 19 with the goal of reaching $100,000, the pledges exceeded that figure in little time. At this moment, the amount of the pledges is $868.049 but there’s time until December 19 to make an offer.

On September 27, 1983 Richard Stallman announced the birth of the GNU project. This acronym stands for “GNU’s Not Unix” and indicates a willingness to create a Unix-compatible operating system but with the fundamental characteristic of being free. The point was that no one had to pay for permission to use the GNU system.
