The Mars Rover Opportunity reached the Endeavour crater about three weeks ago after a long journey and it’s already making discoveries that are very interesting from a scientific point of view. In fact the first analysis confirms that the environmental conditions of ancient Mars were favorable to life.

The Mars Rover Opportunity reached Endeavour crater, where NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter revealed the presence of clay minerals and ancient geological deposits. In the area there are a lot of analysis to do and considering the wear of Opportunity this could be its final destination.

A few days after the arrival of the Dawn spacecraft in the vicinity of the asteroid Vesta, NASA released the most detailed images ever taken of this celestial body. The study of Vesta will go on for an year then Dawn will leave for dwarf planet Ceres.

NASA ends attempts to communicate with Mars Rover Spirit

NASA has announced the end of the attempts to contact the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit, whose last communication came from Mars on March 22, 2010. Today the last attempts will be made but now hopes to receive an answer from Spirit are almost non-existent.

A new analysis of the data gathered by the Galileo space probe has revealed the presence of a partially molten magma ocean which is a layer about 30 miles thick below the surface of Io, one of the biggest Jupiter’s moons.
