On November 23, 2013 there will be the 50th anniversary of “Doctor Who”. To celebrate this important moment let’s go over the Doctor’s history again. This article remembers the Fifth Doctor.

Played by Peter Davison, the Fifth Doctor is a significant change from the Fourth Doctor. The regeneration, with all its consequences, had become one of the foundations of “Doctor Who” but in this case the transformation was profound even by the standards of the character.

The novel “Surface Detail” by Iain M. Banks was published for the first time in 2010. It’s part of the Culture series.

Lededje Y’breq is a slave owned by Joiler Veppers. When she tries once again to escape but gets caught another time, she bites his nose and he kills her in a fit of rage. Her mind, however, is transmitted to the closest Culture starship, where it’s transferred into a new body. Her only thought is to go back to her planet to take revenge but Veppers is the most powerful man of their civilization and that means among other things that he’s always surrounded by bodyguards.

A few hours ago, the Russian cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin, the American astronaut Karen Nyberg and the Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano returned to Earth on the Soyuz TMA-09M spacecraft, which landed without problems in Kazakhstan. The three have spent nearly six months on the International Space Station, where they arrived on May 28, 2013. Initially, they were part of Expedition 36, in the second half of their stay they were part of the Expedition 37 with Fyodor Yurchikhin as commander of the Station.

Played by Tom Baker, the Fourth Doctor continues in many ways the Third Doctor ora then evolves over time. He’s been the Doctor that lasted the longest in the classic “Doctor Who” series, so much that he’s the most beloved by many fans and for many people, especially non- fans, he’s still the most recognizable as the Doctor.
