Reconstruction of Hallucigenia sparsa

Hallucigenia, an animal lived in the Cambrian period, between 520 and 505 million years ago, has been considered for decades a really weird animal, hence the name. It looked like it could be part of a family that got extinct but the discovery of new fossils allowed to study it better since the ’90s. Now according to a new research carried out at the University of Cambridge hallucigenia, or rather the hallucigenia genus, is a lobopode, related to modern velvet worms, part of the Onychophora phylum.

The novel “The Eternal Champion” by Michael Moorcock was published for the first time in 1970. It’s the first novel in the Erekosë series.

John Daker is a man of the 20th century. His sleep is disturbed by strange dreams until he answers a call from another time. He gets evoked in a world at war where he’s told that he’s Erekosë, a legendary hero of the past brought back to life to save humanity from the Eldren enemies.

John has no memories of Erekosë yet has a strange familiarity with the legendary sword that belonged to the hero. He agrees to fight to save humanity, also because the Eldren are described as demons. Before going to war at King Rigenos’s side, John / Erekosë meets princess Iolinda, with whom he begins a romantic relationship. The situation becomes complicated when humans don’t look so good, the Eldren don’t seem and strange dreams seem like memories of other lives in other worlds.

A group of scientists who analyzed the samples returned to Earth in 2006 by NASA’s Stardust space probe may have found some particles of interstellar dust. The research, published in the journal “Science”, and other articles that will appear in the journal “Meteoritics & Planetary Science” concern the analyzes of the samples brought back by Stardust at the end of its primary mission, after the encounter with the comet Wild 2 during which it collected several grains of dust. The probe may have brought something more than expected.
