“The Bounty” is the sixth episode of the third season of the TV show “Star Trek: Picard” and follows “Imposters“. It’s available in various countries on the Paramount+ streaming platform and in many other countries on Amazon Prime Video.

Note. This article contains some spoilers about “The Bounty”.

The USS Titan is being pursued by Starfleet as well and it becomes increasingly difficult to figure out who can be trusted. After reuniting with Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd) and Worf (Michael Dorn), Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) decides to ask Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) for help.

I already used the expression Trek pornography assessing the level of fanservice a few episodes ago but that level has even increased! Characters from the show “Star Trek: The Next Generation” continue to appear, in this case even reproducing some images of that show that display how much time has passed for William Riker (Jonathan Frakes). The references to the past go far beyond at the space museum with the pornography boldly going where no sci-fi porn has gone before.

All this makes “The Bounty” an episode more than ever linked to the past of the saga that at the same time, manages to project the story toward the future. The relationship between parents and children is one of the themes of this season of “Star Trek: Picard” and the reunion of the La Forge family takes it to another level. Some developments are once again clichés but the old protagonists’ children show that they can be the next generation with their initiatives.

The good thing is that the fanservice is well integrated into an eventful storyline. It’s an episode that’s a little less about conversations and introspection and a little more about action. Confrontations between characters are still significant but there’s a lot of action with various ramifications and consequences. There’s now a single plot with the protagonists working together to face the great threat to the Federation.

Certain twists connected to the presence of known characters that were announced became obvious taking away the surprise effect but it’s all part of the Trek pornography element. Even the final cliffhanger was predictable and we can only hope they find a resolution that is at least enjoyable. Entering its second half, the season is confirmed to be full of events developed in a way that is far from original but pleasant for old Star Trek fans.
