Switzerland has won the 2014 Davis Cup defeating France in the Final. Stan Wawrinka defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the Federer-Wawrinka duo defeated Benneteau-Gasquet and Roger Federer defeated Richard Gasquet. For Switzerland it’s the first Davis Cup.

The Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has won the ATP Finals 2014 after Roger Federer had to withdraw before the start of the final. For Djokovic this is the third consecutive title of “Master” of tennis. Federer paid for the struggled semifinal with back problems that forced him to withdraw from the final.

Czech Republic won Federation Cup 2014 defeating Germany in the Final thanks to the wins by Petra Kvitova against Andrea Petkovic and Angelique Kerber and by Lucie Safarova against Angelique Kerber. For Czech Republic this is the third Federation Cup won in four years.

Serena Williams won the WTA Championships, the final women tennis tournament, defeating the Romanian Simona Halep in the final 6-3 6-0. The American confirms she’s the no. 1 in women tennis winning this title for the fifth time.

The Russian tennis player Nikolay Davydenko announced his retirement. During his career, he won several tournaments, especially the 2009 ATP Finals. He reached no. 3 of the ATP rankings.
