The Chinese tennis player Na Li (or Li Na if you prefer Chinese conventions for names) has announced her retirement from professional activity. Her knee problems have become too much and wouldn’t allow her to return to play at 100%. She had already undergone three surgeries on her right knee and missed this summer tournaments to undergo left knee surgery but she felt that her body was asking her to stop.

The Croatian tennis player Marin Cilic won the Grand Slam tournament of the U.S. Open 2014 defeating Kei Nishikor in the final 6-3 6-3 6-3. For the Croatian it’s the first Grand Slam title.

Serena Williams has won the tennis Grand Slam tournament of the U.S. Open 2014 defeating the Danish Caroline Wozniacki in the final 6-3 6-3. For the American player it’s the third consecutive U.S. Open title, her sixth overall and her 18th Grand Slam title, reaching Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova.

The Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has won the Grand Slam Wimbledon tournament defeating Roger Federer in the final 6-7 (7) 6-4 7-6 (4) 5-7 6-4. For Djokovic it’s the second Wimbledon title after winning it in 2011.

The Czech tennis player Petra Kvitova has won the Grand Slam Wimbledon tournament defeating the Canadian Eugenie Bouchard in the final. For the Czech player it’s the second Wimbledon title after the one she won in 2011.
