According to the official announcement, she contracted a virus.

Rafael nadal won the Grand Slam Roland Garros tournament defeating Novak Djokovic in the final 3-6 7-5 6-2 6-4. For the Spaniard it’s the ninth title at the French Open.

Maria Sharapova won the Grand Slam Roland Garros tournament defeating the Romanian player Simona Halpe in the final 6-4 6-7 (5) 6-4. For the Russian it’s the second title at the French Open.

In the night between Saturday and Sunday the former British tennis player Elena Baltacha passed away. In November 2013 she announced her retirement from tennis and in early 2014 was diagnosed with a liver cancer that caused her death. Elena Baltacha was a professional tennis player until november 2013. In her career she reached no. 49 in the WTA rankings and won a total of 11 ITF tournaments.

The Swiss tennis player Stanislas Wawrinka won the Grand Slam Australian Open 2014 defeating Rafael Nadal in the final 6-3 6-2 3-6 6-3. For Wawrinka it’s the first Grand Slam title.
