Charles William Mumy, Jr. (photo ©Gage Skidmore) was born on February 1, 1954, in San Gabriel, California, USA.

Bill Mumy, who for several years was credited as Billy Mumy, started his career as an actor when he was only 6 years old in an episode of the TV Show “National Velvet”. During his childhood, he had roles in many TV shows with multiple participations in the first versions of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” and “The Twilight Zone“.

Over the years, Bill Mumy started earning roles in movie productions as well such as “Dear Brigitte” (1965) but he remained basically a television actor and that same year he won his first role for which he became really famous, that of Will Robinson in the show “Lost in Space”, which lasted for three seasons.

Bill Mumy is also a musician and can play a number of instruments. In 1970 he founded the band Barnes & Barnes with his friend Robert Haimer. Over the course of almost thirty years, the two of them have published twelve albums. Starting in the ’80s, occasionally Mumy has also written music for television.

Bill Mumy has kept on working mostly as an actor and among the many TV shows in which he participated, there were the ’80s versions of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” and “The Twilight Zone”.

In 1994, Bill Mumy starred playing the role for which he’s best known in his adult life, that of Lennier in the TV show “Babylon 5“, which lasted for five seasons. In those years, he was also involved in creating, writing and producing the children’s show “Space Cases”. He also released three music albums as a solo artist: “Dying To Be Heard” in 1997, “In The Current” in 1999 and “Pandora’s Box” in 2000.

Over the years, Bill Mumy has also worked frequently as the narrator of documentaries and has lent his voice to characters in various cartoons and on many occasions even to commercials.

As an author, Bill Mumy wrote or co-wrote several comic book stories also linked to well-known shows such as Spider-Man, the Hulk, and the Hellraiser horror series. He has written several stories related to the universe of Star Trek such as the “Return of the Worthy” trilogy. Sometimes he also wrote screenplays for television and for the 2002 version of “The Twilight Zone” he wrote the episode “Lost and Found”. In the episode “It’s Still a Good Life” in the same show he starred as Anthony Fremont again in this sequel to the original series episode “It’s a Good Life”. In this new episode his daughter Liliana Mumy stars as well.

Bill Mumy keeps on dividing his time among his various activities so you have to pay attention to the news about him to know where you can see it or hear him next.
