The match is now intense, unlike the one played in the group stage, and Novak Djokovic has a break point in the first game but Roger Federer manages to hold serve. In the second game the Swiss has a break but the Serbs holds serve as well. In the third game the Serb breaks his. Federer tries to be more aggressive and in the sixth game has a break point but the Serb holds serve again. In the ninth game Djokovic breaks Federer another time to close the first set 6-3.

In the second set Federer tries to be more effective with his serve and to take a few more risks but in Novak Djokovic’s service games the rallies tend to be long and the Swiss sometimes must resort to some magic to win the point. In the eighth game the Serb has three consecutive break points but the Swiss manage to hold serve. In the tenth game Djokovic breaks Federer also thanks to a double fault on a match point winning the second set 6-4 to conquer the match and his fourth consecutive ATP Finals title.

Roger Federer has no obligation to play a certain amount of tournaments because of his age so he prepared specifically for some of top events. Nevertheless, in the most important finals he lost to Novak Djokovic. Today we tried until the end with the same result. He’ll keep on playing at least until the next Olympics and then it will depend on his motivations.

Novak Djokovic ended a nearly perfect season with a very high level final confirming that he’s the master of tennis for the fourth consecutive year, another of his records. Today he showed that finals are very different from group stage matches. He’s a player who keeps on seeking improvements year after year so his rivals will have to find new countermeasures to be able to beat him.
