25 years of Star Trek: The Next Generation
On September 28, 1987 the TV show “Star Trek: The Next Generation” made its debut, set about a century after the original Star Trek series. The show went of for seven seasons. After the end of the series, the crew of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” starred in four movies: “Star Trek: Generations” in 1994, “Star Trek: First Contact” in 1996,” Star Trek: Insurrection” in 1998 and “Star Trek: Nemesis” in 2002.

A huge hot gas halo around the Milky Way
A team of astronomers used NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory to find evidence that the Milky Way is wrapped in an enormous halo of gas that has a radius of at least 300,000 light years but it could be much bigger. The size of this halo is therefore so big that it includes the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, two small galaxies near – of course in astronomical terms – the Milky Way.

A controversial end for the Monday Night Football between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks
There was a dramatic epilogue in the Monday Night Football on September 24, 2012 between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks. In fact, the Packers were leading 12-7 but the Seahawks won with a so-called Hail Mary pass that led to score a touchdown when the clock just expired. These things happen but the circumstances in which this touchdown was awarded are causing a lot of controversy on the value of the replacement officials who are officiating the NFL games in this start of the season.
