Bruce William Boxleitner (photo ©Gage Skidmore) was born on May 12, 1950 in Elgin, Illinois, USA.

Bruce Boxleitner studied at the Goodman School of Drama and the Art Institute of Chicago. He learned acting also working in stage plays, so much so that he began his acting career in theater, obtaining his first important roles on Broadway.

After moving to Los Angeles, Bruce Boxleitner began working on television productions while roles in film productions were rare in the 1970s. Fame came to him playing Luke Macahan in the TV show “How the West Was Won”, which aired between 1976 and 1979. Thanks to his horse-riding skills, over the years he obtained various roles in western productions. He also managed to get important roles in movies, starting with “Baltimore Bullet” (1980) and “Tron” 1982.

In the following years, Bruce Boxleitner remained above all a television actor with participations in many TV shows / TV movies. As a regular character he participated in “Bring ’em back alive” between 1982 and 1983 and “Top Secret” between 1983 and 1987.

In the 1990s, what perhaps is the role for which he’s best known, John Sheridan in the TV show “Babylon 5“, arrived for Bruce Boxleitner. The actor was a regular character in the show from the second to the fifth and last season, between 1994 and 1998. He reprised that role in the following years in some TV movies connected to it that are set in different periods before, during, and after the show.

In the following years, Bruce Boxleitner had many other roles in television productions such as the 2005 TV show “Young Blades” and in many movies. He reprised another of his iconic roles in the 2010 movie “Tron: Legacy”, in the animated show “TRON: Uprising”, and in video games related to Tron’s world. In recent years it seemed that a third movie would be produced, but the bits of information on the project are contradictory, and at least for the moment everything seems to be stopped.

In recent years, between one TV movie and another, Bruce Boxleitner played a regular character in the TV show “Cedar Cove” between 2013 and 2015 and a recurring character in the TV show “Supergirl”.

Bruce Boxleitner has also signed two science fiction novels: “Frontier Earth” (1999) and “Searcher” (2001).

In the course of his life, Bruce Boxleitner has been married three times and has three children. His name is linked to some recently completed and nearing completion productions, so his fans will be able to see him in new roles.
